Do LED display screens need to be equipped with video processors?

Simply put, the function of a led video processor is to convert image signals from external sources (such as Blu ray DVDs, computers, high-definition playback boxes, etc.) into signals that an LED display screen can accept. During this process, LED video processors generally need to complete the following processing steps:
1、 Bit depth increase
The grayscale level of the current LED display screen has been increased to 16 bits and 17 bits, but most input signal sources are only 8 bits. Therefore, following the footsteps of the era of high-definition display, the application of 10 bit or even 12 bit processing technology in video processors has become a trend.
2、 Resolution specification conversion
Generally speaking, the signal resolution provided by image signal sources (such as Blu ray DVDs, computers, high-definition playback boxes, etc.) has a fixed specification (referring to standards such as VESA, ITU, SMPTE, etc.), and the modular splicing display of LED displays allows its resolution to be almost any value. The video processor converts various signal resolutions into the actual physical display resolution of LED displays.
3、 Zoom
During the resolution specification conversion process, the image needs to be scaled, whether the resolution is increased or decreased, to display the complete image on the screen.
4、 Color space conversion
LED displays have a wide color gamut, while most image signals have a relatively small color space (such as NTSC). In order for LED display screens to have excellent image display effects, color space conversion must be carried out.
5、 Image processing and enhancement technology
Digital image processing technology has developed from the 1920s to the present, with a large number of patented technologies emerging. For example, DCDi, ACC2, ACM3D, and a series of patented technologies from Faroudja Laboratory, which have won Emmy Awards. These technologies undoubtedly have greatly improved the visual effect of images.
